City Info:
The city of Hubli is located at a distance of around 430 kms from Bangalore. The climate is hot and wet during the summer and rainy seasons and pleasant during winter. Dharwad is the administrative capital of the Dharwad district and Hubli serves as the commerce center. Hubli hosts one of the largest APMC yard in Karnataka state.

The cities of Hubli and Dharwad, 13 miles (21 km) apart, were incorporated as one city in 1961. Dharwad is the district administrative center for a rice and cotton growing area. Hubli is a trade and transportation center, with cotton and silk factories, railway workshops, and a major newspaper industry. It is built around an 11th century Hindu stone temple. There are many colleges in the metropolitan area, making it an education center for S India.

Places of Interest:

Unkal Lake:
Unkal is a beautiful water spot with resplendent sunset view. Here we have cool breeze blowing in the dusk, where people ranging from infants to aged come to alleviate their pains of tiresome day. It has green garden, recreational facilities for the children, boating.

Glass House:
Glass House as the name itself says that it's a palace of glass. This was inaugurated by late Smt. Indira Gandhi. This is very much similar to the one present in Lalbagh, Bangalore.

Siddarudh Math:
It is a prominent religious institution, a centre of Advaita philosophy as preached by Swami Siddharoodha (1837-1929). The latter has a very large number of devotees among all communities, all over karnataka and also in the neighboring states, Maharashtra and Goa.

Bhavanishankar Temple
This Chalukyan temple with the image of Sri Narayana is flanked by the ten incarnations of God.

Asar
It was built by Mohammed Ali Shah in about 1646 to serve as a hall of justice. The building was also used to house two hairs from the Prophet's beard. Women are not allowed inside.

Nrupatunga Betta
This is a beautiful picinic spot on the Unkal Hill in Hubli

Unkala Lake
It is a beautiful spot to picnic for a day - just 3 Kms

Navilteerth
A beautiful nature gifted spot on the way to Ramadurga, 53Kms away from Hubli.

Sykes Point
Situated 84 Kms from Hubli. A place to watch beauty of nature and sun set - a picnic spot.

Transportation

AirPort:
The airport is 8 km from the center of town. Its called Hubli AirPort; 25 Km east of city

Train:
Hubli is a major rail junction on the Bombay to Bangalore route and for trainsto Bijapur and Hospet. If you are heading for Goa the No 237 Gadag to Miraj Link Express at 8.30 pm has a 2nd class three tier sleeping coach and another combined 1st and 2nd class two tier sleeping coach attach to the train, and these go all the way to Vasco da Gama, thus avoiding the need to change at Londa. At Londa these coaches are detached from 237 and added to the 7806 Miraj to Vasco Gomantak Express at about 3.30am

The booking office is open daily 8 am to 8 pm. There are usually two daily express trains to Mumbai and Bangalore. There are express trains to Hospet (for Hampi) at 10 am and 4.30 pm. To get to Bijapur, you take a train to Gadag (1½ hr, same train that goes to Hospet), then take another train from there.

Bus:
There are regular buses to Bangalore (9 hr) and Hospet (4 hr). NWKRTC and Goa Kadamba bus company (five daily, Gate #10) buses go to Goa daily. There are also buses to Mumbai (15 hr), Mangalore (10 hr), Jog Falls, Gokarna, Mysore (10 hr), and Bijapur. Across from the bus stand are private bus companies offering deluxe buses to Goa, Bangalore, Pune, Mangalore, Mumbai, and Bijapur. Hubli has a large and busy bus station.
